Maintenance Specialist I Building WCP

LOCATION: Wannamaker County Park
SALARY: $25,850

General Statement of Job
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Specialist III, the Maintenance Specialist I will perform the efficient and effective maintenance of Wannamaker County Park. These duties include the maintenance and upkeep of all physical facilities and utilities. This position is expected to perform manual work. This position will work and support all aspects of its district, special events including The Holiday Festival of Lights, and other areas as needed. The position requires evening, weekend and holiday work. “On call” status for emergency or unusual situations is required.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Cleans, repairs and maintains infrastructure including roads, parking lots, picnic areas, docks, buildings, rental facilities and miscellaneous utilities.
Repairs, maintains and installs all types of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, signage, equipment, materials, roofing and building infrastructure.
Maintains, inspects and ensures all playground areas are kept in a safe and usable condition. Duties may include becoming Certified Playground Safety Inspector.
Performs custodial duties including dusting, sweeping, scrubbing, polishing, washing, sanitizing, and cleaning of restrooms, pools, deck areas, buildings, rental facilities and fixtures throughout the park. Performs duties related to the general upkeep of the park including litter picking, the removal of trash and debris and pressure washing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Basic knowledge of the principles and practices relating to park maintenance functions
• Knowledge, skill, and experience with the operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety
of vehicles and equipment
• Ability to effectively direct part time staff, and volunteers
• Ability to provide outstanding customer service to our visitors
• Basic knowledge of computers, timekeeper and various application software
• Basic knowledge, skill, and experience with the operation, maintenance and repair of a
wide variety of vehicles and equipment
• Basic ability to operate various equipment, both large and small
• Knowledge of safety regulations and personal protective equipment

Minimum Training and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required. Two years of relevant experience preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including heavy equipment, power and hand tools, vehicles, etc. Must be able to exert up to fifty pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Must possess the ability to communicate. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work; work involves walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, climbing, balancing, etc. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of up to 50 pounds.
